HI ALL

I HAVE SAD NEWS TO REPORT. GEORGY HAS LOST THE PUPPIES. SHE WAS NOT EATING AND ACTING UNLIKE HER USUAL SELF SO I TOOK HER TO THE VET. IT LOOKS AS IF SHE HAS ABSORBED THEM BUT SHE DOES HAVE AN INFECTION. HER WHITE CELL COUNT WAS HIGH. WE ARE NOT SURE AT THIS TIME WHAT THE CAUSE WAS BUT ARE DOING A CULTURE TO BE SURE. AT THIS TIME I AM MORE CONCERNED ABOUT HER HEALTH THAN THE LOSS OF THE PUPS. WE WILL KEEP YOU POSTED ON ANY FUTURE BREEDING

It's good to be back home after 3 days and nights in a hotel with only Georgy for company. Her conversations are mostly one sided!

We met with Ari Jr. and Sam this morning at 8 and after a bit of running around and chasing each other, Ari cornered her and succeeded in a tie that lasted a good 20 minutes. Both Sam and I are very pleased and looking forward to having her confirmed pregnant within the next few weeks.

Cosmos howled when we left for Lynchburg, refused to eat and was bribed with a grilled burger and ham in his kibble just to get him to eat something. Personally, I think he was pulling a fast one on his Dad 'cause he knew he'd get something extra good!

Went to meet with Ari today and Georgy played a little hard to get but not for long! Ari tried a couple times and finally got down to business. This tie lasted longer than the one yesterday. We are going back over in the morning for one last chance at another tie.

Georgy had her first date with Ari, Jr. yesterday. It was mostly foreplay, with Ari "practicing.". Georgy was great! She stands for him without too much problem. We did an AI just in case.

Today was a different story. She realized where she was from the driveway and started to whine and get excited. Once in the yard, Ari wasted no time. No foreplay this time! They tied for 15+ minutes. We will try again tomorrow and Saturday.

CONGRATULATIONS ARGUS

Over the Labor Day weekend Argus participated in six shows. He won 1 Reserve Winners Dog, 5 Winners Dog, and 3 Best Of Winners. This is quite an acomplishment for a 13 months old to beat full grown adult Shiloh males. When he won the 3 Best of Winners he had to go in the show ring with all the male and female Champions. He earned enough points this weekend to become a
Jr Champion. We are very proud of him.

This past weekend May 2 & 3 our local Shiloh club the ISSDC sponsered a Nationals dog show. Abba's Kennels was represented by three of Arabella's puppies. A big CONGRATULATIONS goes out to them for doing so well.

On Sun Argus and Katy had to compete against each other for Best Jr Puppy in Speciality since they both won in their catagories. I wish I had been able to take a picture of them in the ring together, but unfortunately it was pouring down rain.

Since Argus won the male puppies he had to go up against all the adult male winners for best male dog in the show. Lo and behold 10 month old Argus beat out all the adult males to take home the title Winners Dog. He then proceded to the next round which included all the Champion male and females and the two dogs that just won Winners Dog and Winners Bitch from this show to compete for Best in Show. He didn't win but what an accomplishment for a 10 month old to make it that far.

So to Georgie, Katy and Argus Abba's Shilohs wishes you a BIG CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!

Prayer Shawls For Veterans Needed

Hi everyone I just wanted to ask if any of you that reads my blog knows how to knit or crochet. If you do a friend of mine who is a minister is collecting prayer shawls for veterans. If you would be interested in helping out and could make a prayer shawl, please email me at
michelle-abbasshilohs@comcast.net I will be happy to send you the directions on how to make them, the colors needed and where to send them and several prayes you can choose from to pray while you are making them.

If you don't know what a prayer shawl is, let me explain. A prayer shawl is usually made for a person in need, sick, depressed etc. They are made with love and a prayer for the person that is to receive it.

One was given to me and to this day when I wear it I still feel alot of comfort just knowing that someone cared enough to make it with love and a special prayer for God to comfort me. It's just a little thing but has helped so many people.

So if you would be interested let me know. They aren't that big so they won't take very long to make. Thanks again and I hope many of you reading this will find it in your heart to help out.

Congratulations Nico and Argus for doing so well at the Reading PA Rarieties show. Both dogs won their groups and Nico went on to win Best Of Winners and finished his Championship.

Nico will be retired now , but Argus will continue to show and hopefully will be our new stud.

Dynamo is being groomed and hopefully in May we will start showing him. He is turning out to be quite a very handsome smooth coat. We are also hoping that Dynamo will be another new stud for Abba's Shilohs.

Lots of congratulations go out to Mighty Argus Guardian Of Abba aka Argus on passing his Cannine Good Citizen test. This is a special honor especially when you pass it at 8 months. For those of you who don't know what the CGC test is, it is an obedience test along with testing to determine if your dog has proper etique in public. The dog has to pass each requirement or they will not be given their CGC certification. So needless to say we are all very proud of our boy Argus.

Well I'm sorry to say that we didn't see any puppies in the sonogram. We will re breed her to Ari in July when she comes back in heat. In the meantime Arabella is going to have a nice rest before she is bred again and I'm going to relax and enjoy the summer

The show season is about to begin so watch for updates on how Nico, Argus and Dynamo do in the shows. I will post updates on all the dogs from time to time on what they are doing. There are alot of picnics, get togethers and herding coming up, so stay tuned for the updates.

Just thought I'd let everyone know that Arabella is schedualed for a sonogram on Feb 26th. I'll will post the results as soon as I get back from the vets.

Right now I'm 99.9% positive that she is preganant. She still isn't eating as much as she normally does, but her belly is getting bigger and her breasts are getting bigger. She is definetly looking pregnant or getting fat. LOL But I'm willing to make a bet that she's expecting.

Arabella is a beautiful plush black/tan bi dual. She is 25 ½” tall and 82lbs and has a medium temperament. She received her Jr Championship at age 14wks and currently has 7pts towards her adult Championship. She isn’t one of the bigger female Shilohs but she produces some amazing puppies. All her puppies have big bones, nice heads, good muzzles and dark pigment. All her puppies have turned out to be mostly medium/soft with just a couple of medium temperaments. Her puppies are turning into some of the bigger Shilohs out there. Males are running around 30” and some of the females are 29” and they aren’t even two years old yet.

Arabella is solidly built, has a beautiful saber tail and a gait in the show ring to die for. She is full of energy and loves to run and play and herd. She is a very affectionate, loving dog and loves to spend as much time around us as possible and has been passing that loving nature onto her puppies.

Ari is a plush brown sable. He is 30” and 115lbs and still growing. He has very large bones, Huge head and muzzel and great dark pigment. He is a sweet mellow softie. As you can guess his temperament is considered soft. Ari is working towards his adult Championship and is currently pointed. He has a beautiful saber tail and like Arabella a gait to die for in the show ring. Ari spends his time playing with his human family which consists of three children which he is extremely gentle with. Ari’s owners are school teachers and Ari spends several times a week working with special needs children.

Ari has produced some beautiful puppies. Large bones, large head and muzzles and great pigment. His puppies temperaments have ranged from soft to medium. You can see his puppy’s pictures under the title progeny.

We are expecting an exceptional litter from this breeding. Color wise they will be various shades of sables and duals. If you look at the Arabella/Elvis litter pictures you will get an idea of what the puppies will look like. As far as temperaments go , I’m expecting mostly soft to medium/soft with maybe a couple of mediums. This litter of puppies will be considered full Shilohs

The last few days Arabella has started picking at her food and has decreased the amount she is eating. This is one of her first signs that she may be pregnant. I figure that by the end of next week she will probably start showing signs of morning sickness.

If I cant tell for sure if she is pregnant by the end of Feb, I will take her in for a sonogram to confirm the pregnancy.

It's been a week since Arabella was breed. She is starting to want to go to the bathroom alot which is always one of her first signs of being pregnant. In about two weeks if she is pregnant she will start cutting back on her food and gets morning sickness. Keep watching for updates. If I decide to do a sonogram in about a month I will let you know.

Keep posted for updates. I'm getting very excited about this breeding. We should have beautiful, big boned plush puppies. Color wise they should be very similar to the Arabella/Elvis breeding and the temeraments should range from soft to medium.

BIANCA/LUKE PUPPIES ARE IN THERE NEW HOME

The LER done on Tues. The three girls ended up having Med temperaments and Dynamo is a med/soft. Twp girls were breed/show upgradable and one was a pet. Dynamo was a breed/show upgradable.

At 9wks all the puppies weighed between 25-26lbs. I guess I was right when I nicknamed them the Butter Balls. LOL This was an amazing litter. The broadness in the chest of these puppies were incredable. At an LER when you mesure the width of the chest you put fingers between the front two legs and the normal is 2 to 3 fingers. Not these puppies. The girls all measured 4 fingers with two of them we were able to spread our fingers apart. Dynamo we were able to put our whole hand and still had room between the front legs. These puppies are going to be huge when they are full grown.

Sassy (pink) went to live in MD and her new name is Sheila
Missy(purple) now lives in PA and her new name is Kodiac
Brooke(blue) live in Richmond, VA and her new name is Piper
Dynamo (red) is staying with us and will keep his name.

BIANCA LUKE PUPPIES GOING HOME

I can't believe that the time has flown by so fast, but by the end of this week the puppies will be in there new homes. Tuesday is the Litter Evaluation, Wed Missy goes to her new home, Thurs Brooke goes to her new home and on Sunday Sassywill be joining her new family. Poor Dynamo is going to feel so alone.

I gave Brooke and Missy a bath yesterday and was planning on giving Sassy and Dynamo a bath today, but by this morning Missy and Brooke were already dirty again, so I think I'll wait until the morning that the puppies leave to give them a bath. That way they will be nice and clean when they go to their new home. I guess Missy and Brooke are going to have to get another bath. LOL Four very big puppies in a 4x6 whelping box don't stay clean very long. LOL

SECOND BREEDING A SUCCESS

Arabella and I went over to see Ari again today and like yesterday it was very successful. We are going back over again tomorrow and then heading back home. I will update the blog as Arabella progesses. Hopefully in about two to three weeks she will get morning sickness. Keep watching for updates on Arabella's progress.

If everything goes as planned she should be having puppies 58 to 63 days from Jan 21st.

Arabella and Ari met each other for the first time this afternoon and it was love at first sight. The breedidng was very successful. We will go back tomorrow and Fri and breed them again. So far so good and hopefully we will have beautiful fuzzy puppies come March.

I had a chance to visit with Ari's current 8wk old puppies and boy are they beautiful. Big heads, bones, size and very very fluffy.

I will be going to Lynchburg, VA to breed Arabella to Ari of Fireside Shilohs on Wed. Keep checking for future post on this breeding. Keep your fingers crossed and say a prayer that everything goes well. This breeding is going to produce some awsome, big, plush, sweet tempered babies.

I will post from Fireside Shilohs on the status of the breeding. If all goes well we will have puppies around the third week in March.

Puppies 8wk health check up

The puppies will be 8wks old tomorrow and today they had their 8wk health check up. The overall condition of the puppies was given an excellent by the vet. She was very impressed with the size of the puppies and amazed at their bone size. All puppies had perfect bites and no puppy heart murmurs.

The puppies will be given their final deworming tonight. The LER is scheduled for Tues the 27th and by the end of the week all the puppies will be in their new homes except for Dynamo who will stay here with us and his two best buddie Nico and Argus.

Here are the puppy weights as of today:

I have a feeling that by the puppies go to their new homes they will be weighing around 23lbs. I guess when I called them my Thanksgiving Butter Balls I was really correct. They are truly little Butter Balls.

WE'RE 7WKS OLD TODAY

The puppies are 7wks old today. I can't believe how big they are getting. I have a feeling that a couple of them may be 20lbs by next week.

Since the weather has been staying around 40 I have been able to put the puppies out a couple of times a day. We have a large fenced in area on our deck about 12'x 20' that they can play in. They still havent been in the yard. We live in the woods, so our "grass" is weeds and mud.

I weighed the puppies tonight and here are there 7wk weights:

FIRST TIME OUTSIDE

Well the puppies have finially had a chance to see what's it's like outside. Today I put them in on the deck for about 10 min. It was so cute to watch them run round around the enclosed area. At first they weren't quite sure what was going on, but it only took a couple of minutes and they were chasing each other around. I'll put them out again this afternoon. I wish the temperature would go back up so they could stay out longer.

Today they are getting their 3rd worming. That's always alot of fun. Wrong ! The puppies hate the taste of the worming medicine. LOL

I have my two year old grandson for a couple of days and the puppies are enjoying having him here. He loves to watch them play and gives them each a kiss goodnight.

SIX WEEKS OLD TODAY

I can't believe that I will only have my little Butter Balls for two more weeks. The time has gone so fast. As soon as the weather dry's up I will start putting the puppies on the deck for short periods of time. Hopefully the ground will dry out within the week and I can take them in the yard to play. It would be nice for them to know what the ground feels like before we do the LER.

I weighed all the puppies tonight and here are the little porkers weights.

Now that the holidays are over things will settle down here. The puppies are doing great and getting HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe that tomorrow they will be 6wks. Time goes so fast. Only two more weeks and they will be going to their new homes.

The three girls are eating like little pigs but Dynamo is my picky eater. Not only that but when he goes to eat the girls head butt him out of the way and he just walks away from the food. By the time they're done eating there isn't any food left for him, so we have started feeding him by himself. I take him out of the whelping box to feed him away from the girls, but that doesn't always work. He's too curious about everything aroud him that I have problems sometimes getting him to eat. I'm going to weigh them all tomorrow and I'm betting that the girls are probably about 1lb heaver than he is. I'm not worried about him. I'm sure that once the girls are gone to their new homes he'll be fine.

Dynamo cracks us up. I think the poor boy feels hen pecked in the whelping box with his sisters. If I don't latch the gate of the whelping box he climbs out and trots in the kitchen to be with Nico and Argus. I guess he knows they're boys and wants to be with them. It's really cute becuase he is so little next to them, but he doesn't seem to know it. He just trots in like he owns the house.

Everyone that is getting one of the girls came to visit this weekend and have fallen in love with them. The puppies really enjoyed all the attention and all the time they got to run around the kitchen.

Well I'd better go for now.

WE'RE 4 WEEKS OLD TODAY

The puppies are 4 wks old today and getting sooo BIG! I took their 4wk pictures tonight and have emailed them to Jacki and they should be up by the end of the week. There will also be new 4wk video's of the puppies. On Christmas Day I'm going to take pictures of them with their Christmas present.

I have started adding mushed puppy kibble to their ceral and I am slowly reducing the cereal. They have most of their teeth in now and boy are they sharp. They like to knibble on my toes when I'm in the whelping box.

They are walking and running around the whelping box now and are really starting to interact with each other. They are barking and growling at each other. They like to wrestle with each other, tug on each others ears , pull tails and try and grab hunks of fur. Then they roll around with each other. It's funny to watch the 3 girls gang up on Dynamo. He just growls and barks at them and they back off. But when it's nap time they like to snuggle with each other. Four plump puppies all curled up together. Tonight I walked in the whelping room and there was Dynamo on the floor. He managed to climb out of the whelping box. Guess it's time to close the door on the whelping box or I'll end up with all 4 puppies on the floor. Once one does it they all seem to follow.

They are all very affectionate puppies. They love to be held and kissed. I hold them in my arms like a baby on their backs and up on my shoulders like you were burping a baby. . They give me lots of puppy kisses and try to talk to me. Occasionally I can get them to howl. That is really funny . I have to try and catch that on a video.

Tonight the puppies will get their second round of worming. They make such funny faces when I give it to them. Some of them like the taste, but some hate it. LOL

The Butter Balls Get Their First Bath

Well not a full bath more like a sponge bath. Today they started eating by themselves which always makes a big mess and gets ceral all over them. Once they get to this stage in eating I wipe them off with a paper towel then use a baby wipe to wipe them off and freshen up their bodies. They love having it done. I guess it must feel like a massage to them LOL. So instead of being all sticky and their fur all stuck together they are nice and clean and fluffy.

By then end of the weekend I will slowly start to introduce a little moistened puppy kibble to their ceral. Most puppies love the taste of the kibble and really start to eat more. I'm tyring to wean them alway from Bianca. She is such a good mommy that she doesn't want to leave them for very long. It makes it hard to feed them solid food when she's with them all the time because they are always full on mommy's milk. I'm hoping to have them completly weaned by the end of the 4th week.

Jacki should have the 3wk pics up by the end of the weekend. You are going to love them. They came out so cute.

THE BUTTER BALLS ARE 3WKS OLD

My four little Thanksgiving Butter Balls are 3wks old today. For the last couple of days I have been introducing them to puppy ceral. Similar to baby rice ceral. I have been hand feeding them several times a day. Tonight I added a little raw ground turkey to the mix and put a little bowl in front of them. They weren't sure what to do but once they got a sniff of the turkey and they were in heaven.

They are starting to walk on all four legs more now, but still look like babies taking their first steps. One step forward, two back then flat on their tummies. Too funny to watch. They are also starting to interact alot with each other. Tomorrow when Bianca isn't in the whelping box with them I'm going to start giving them some toys to play with.

I will be taking their 3wk photos' tomorrow so keep watch by the end of the week for them to be up on my website.

18 Days Old How Much Do We Weigh?

Poor Dynamo he's just so out numbered by the girls. They are always pushing him off the nipple or they are drinking all the milk while he sleeps. I'm going to make a special effort to make sure he gets to the fullest breast before the girls do so he gets more milk.

Dynamo and Brooke like their ceral more than Missy and Sassy do. It's only been a day and a half since they starting eating ceral so they don't eat too much yet. I'm hoping I can get them to start eating out of the bowl tomorrow or Mon. Sometime next week I'm going to introduce them to a little raw ground turkey mixed in their cereal. That should really get them eating better. I'm hoping to have them weaned by the time they are 4 weeks. Bianca is starting to want to stay out of the whelping box for longer periods. If all goes as planned by the time they are 4wks they should be on moistened kibble with a little ceral and ground turkey.

I just looked in the whelping box and there are the three girls just nursing away and Dynamo is at the opposite end of the whelping box sound asleep. Well not anymore. I woke him up and put him on the fullest breast. If I can keep catching them at the right time and put Dynamo up to Bianca he should catch back up in weight. He is just such a laid back boy. Once they are weaned and eating solid food all the time we should really see some changes.

These puppies are so fluffy that if they aren't plush coats I'll eat someones hat. They have more fur than alot of the puppies I've had that I knew could only be plush. They are all going to look a lot like their daddy in coloring and markings. Dynamo is getting a lot of brown on his head and I think is going to be lighter than the girls. I still can't get over the heads and muzzels on these puppies especially seeing such large head on females. If the girls keep growing like they are I have a feeling they are going to be built more like a male.

Two of my girl friends are going to come over on Wed to help me take the puppies 3wk pictures. I'm hoping that we can get some really cute Christmas shots. They have more patience than my husband does. If I get a really good one then that will be my picture on next years Christmas Cards.

REAL FOOD

Last night was the first time the puppies had solid food. I introduced them to baby rice ceral and powdered puppy formula. I have to put the ceral on my little finger and then put it in their mouth. They all seemed to like it. I gave it to them again at 4:30am and at 8am. Hopefully in another day or two they will figure out how to lap it out of the bowl. I will gradually start to introduce new foods to them and will keep you posted.

When I had my finger in their mouths feeding them the ceral I actually felt the beginning of little teeth. They are starting to stay awake more and are moving all around the whelping box. They still are crawling, but are getting better at standing up on all 4 legs.

ABBA'S THANKSGIVING BUTTER BALLS

After seeing how much these puppies weighed at 2 wks I am now definetly going to refer to them as my Thanksgiving Butter Balls. They are porkers!!!! LOL

I got some really cute shots last night and 4 short video's. I'm having problems with my desk top comp where the photos are downloaded but hopefully will get them to Jacki so she can post them by the weekend.

Every time I pick up the puppies I'm so amazed at their size. Not just the weight but the heads, necks, legs, paws and chest. The girls are even built like males. They are so incredable. I am just so upset that Bianca won't be able to be breed again. I would definitely redo this breeding. What a shame for Bianca and the breed.

All four puppies are very laid back. Dynamo does not fit his name anymore. He was a little spit fire when he was born, but has changed and is now just as laid back as his sisters. They are only 2 wks but my prediction is that they will all be med/soft temperaments. I love making guesses and then seeing if my predictions were right. LOL

As far as coats go I still think they will all be plush, but we will have to wait until they are at least 5 wks to be sure. But if I were a betting person I'd be willing to make a bet that they are plush. LOL.

They are stating to try and stand on all 4 legs now and have even succeded in taking a couple of steps, but most of the time they are still just squirming around. My whelping box is 4' xc 6' and they are all over it. When they are awake they are moving from one end to the other, so they are getting alot of exercise. When I come in the room and stand at one end of the whelping box and start taking to them, they all start moving to the end I'm in. If I sit down they crawl over to me and try and get in my lap. They are so cute. I have to admit I'm totally in love with all of them and when they leave I'll be crying like a baby.

Tomorrow we will be 2 wks old

I can't believe it, but tomorrow the puppies will be two weeks old. They are so plump that I've started referring to them as my little butter ball turkeys. As of last night three were almost 4lbs and Sassy was 3lbs 12 1/2 oz. I will weigh them all tomorrow night and post how much they weigh at 2 wks.

I will be taking pictures tomorrow evenning when my husband gets home from work and will email them to Jacki to post. I'll also take some more video's.

Tomorrow they will be wormed for the first time. I worm the puppies at 2,4,6 and 8 wks.

Check in tomorrow night for the weights of the puppies. I'm sure that the pictures will be up before the end of the week.

I just finished taking pictures of the puppies and have sent them to Jacki. I'm sure she will have them up before the end of the weekend. The puppies are 8 days old today and just keep gaining so much wieght. As of this morning they were all 3 lbs and of course Miss Piggy was 3 lbs 1 1/2oz. LOL

I spoke to the vet today about the puppy we lost. Apparently the boys were actually identical twins. He said he had never seen two puppies in the same sack in his 30yrs of practice and was excited about it. Puppies being born in the same sack and identical is very rare. What a shame the other litlle boy didn't make it. It would have been really intersting to see how they both developed.

I tried to take pics of the puppies but my flash wasn't working right. We will try again later tonight and shine the warming light that we use on the whelping box on them. Hopefully it will give us enough light to get a couple shots of them.

The puppies are one week old today. I will be taking pictures of the puppies tomorrow and will let you know when they will get posted. I thought you might like to know how much the puppies weigh today.

ARABELLA'S NEX BREEDING

Just thougnt I would let everyone know that Arabella will be breed again when she comes in heat the end of Dec beginning of Jan. I am looking at several males right now and as soon as a final decision is made I will post who the lucky guy is and pictures of him. So stay tuned. If you had your heart set on a Luke/Bianca puppy and cant get one there is always the Arabella litter that is coming up.

Dependeing on when Arabella comes in heat she will have puppies sometime in Feb and the puppies should be ready to go to their new home in April.

Just thought I would let everyone know how big the puppies are getting. I think they must have too much Thanksgiving dinner. LOL they have really gotten big since they were born.

I weighed all the puppies when they were born then I weighed them again Tues night when I got back from the vets . Here are there weights Tues night and Sunday morning

Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bianca and the puppies are very content and happy. The puppies are doing great and have all gained between 1 1/2oz to 2 oz since Tues night.

These puppies are remarkable. Large head and snouts, Big bones, broad chest. They are very big puppies. I took pictures on Wed so hopefully they will be up for viewing on my website by the end of the weekend.

I will touch base with all of my puppy people starting tomorrow and will get in touch with each of you before the end of the weekend.

BIANCA AND PUPPY UPDATE

After a very long sleepless night the puppies and Bianca are doing great.

The babies kept crying last night, but would fall back to sleep when i rocked the box they were in. But poor Bianca was besides herself and so stressed. She would hear the puppies cry and then just start crying and pacing in her whelping box. I was supposed to wait until today to introduce the puppies back to her , but after I tube feed them at 3:30am I just couldn't let her continue the way she was.

I put the puppies back in the whelping box with her. She settled down, the puppies stopped crying and started nuring her. I stayed up until 5am watching them to make sure everything was ok.

As long as her milk comes in and they gain weight I don't have to worry about tube feeding them anymore. My prayers were answerd. Tube feeding a puppy just scares me so bad. I'm always afraid of putting the tube in their lungs instead of theri stomach.

I've taken some pics of the puppies and will forward them to Jacki for her to put up on my website.

Thank you all for your kind words during this. I will give all my puppy people a call after Thanksgiving.

Puppy Update

11/26/08 Yesterday started out to be such a wonderful day. By 11:45am we had three beautiful big girls. But things unfortunately took a turn for the worse. By 2pm Bianca still hadn't delivered another puppy. We called the vet and he said to wait until 3pm and give her a shot to help her uterus contract and if she didn't deliver a puppy by 4pm we were to bring her in. No puppy was born so we took Bianca and the puppies to the vets.

He did an Xray and a very very large puppy showed up on one side. It was vey high and breech. Bianca was given a shot to relax her while they got things ready to do a C-section. I was certain that as much time that had passed the puppy was dead. They did the C-section and to everyones amazement it wasnt' one puppy but two. Apparently the second puppy was pushed up half way under the one that was way up. Both puppies were alive when they were taken out. A true miricle. Everyone including the vet was surprised. The puppy that was lower and breech was thriving, but the one that was higher up was having a very difficult time breathing. Two vet techs and I worked on the puppy for three hours but were unable to get him to breethe well on his own. I gave him mouth to snout and we also tried giving him oxegen. Finally at 9:30pm he passed away. Both puppies were males. The one that didn't make it was 1lb 3 oz and the one that did is going to be Red boy and he weighs 1lb 6oz. Thank God one puppy survived, but it is very sad for me that the other one didn't make it. I have shed alot of tears and probably will for awhile.

When they opened up Bianca her uterus was in bad shape. I can't remember exactly what they said but something like both side were very constricted and if she were to have another litter it would be very difficult for her. I will talk to the vet again tomorrow to find out exactly what he said. At the time I was so distraut I don't remember everything. Anyway It was decided that the best thing for Bianca was to go ahead and have her spade.

Because of the C-section and spaying Bianca can't nurse her puppies right now. I have to tube feed them every two and a half to three hours through tomorrow night. Tomorrow night I can try and let them nurse. If Bianca's milk production has been compromised and she can't nurse them I will have to tube feed them for a week or two and then switch them over to a bottle.

This whole thing has me very upset and sad. I ask that you please don't call me for a few day. Bianca is recouperating from major surgery and needs special care and I will be very busy feeding the puppies along with taking care of my other dogs. Please give me time to emotionally heal from the loss of the puppy and not being able to breed Bianca again. I will call all my puppy people after Thanksgiving.

Tues at 9:30am Bianca delivered her first puppy. A female weighing 3 lbs 3 1/2oz. She will be a dual and will look like Arabella. It's really too early to know what coat type she will have, but I think I'm going to make guesses and see if I guess right when they are older. So for now I think she is going to be a plush and in about 5wks we will see if I'm right. LOL

This first girl will be know as Pink girl and will be wearing a pink ribbon. Within a couple of weeks I will give them names . Right now she is very content nursing and making cooing sounds.

9:30am and Bianca is trying so hard to have a puppy. I feel so bad for her. Poor thing is just moaning and looking at me so pathetically. She is definetely having a harder time than Arabella does, but again the puppies are probably larger since there aren't 12.

Sorry for not posting yesterday. Bianca's temp stayed in the 99's all day. this morning it has dropped down to 98.6. I sure hope it stays down now so she can finially have her puppies.

Last night I didn't get much sleep. she had me up every hour to go pee. Dogs are so similar to humans in the last stages of pregnancy.

I'll try and take her temp later today. It's hard to take it when my husband isnt' here to help. Bianca keeps trying to sit down when I try and take it. If I can't do it by my self I'll take it around 4pm when he gets home.

Sat 9pm final temp for the day . Her temp went back up to 99.3. She still hasn't eaten anything except for one milk bone.

Bianca is doing exactly what Arabella did just before she delivered. It drove me crazy. Everytime her temp would go down for a couple of reading, bam it would go back up. Tomorrow is day 61. I still think she is going to go into labor sometime before tomorrow ends or in the very early hours of Mon.

I took Bianca's temp at 6:30pm and it has dropped to 99.1. Hopefully we will have puppies by the end of the weekend.

Her appetite is still going strong. When she starts getting closer to labor she will slow down on her consumption of food and stop eating when she gets really close to starting labor.

This is the worse part. The waiting game is as bad as waiting for a human baby to be born. Keep checking the post through out the day as I will be posting temp updates. Remember that when you see me start posting that her temp has dropped to 98. something and it stays down, then we are getting close.

4am I just took Bianca's temperature and it dropped to 99.4. She still isn't ready but today is only day 59. Once it drops to mid 98 and stays down then we'll be celebrating.

COUNTDOWN CONTINUES

I took Bianca's temperature this morning at 3:30am and it was 99.9, so she still isn't ready to deliver puppies. Once her temp drops to the mid to low 98's and stays down, then we will be seeing puppies within 24hrs. I'll keep posting each time I take her temp, so everyone will know how close we are getting.

Count Down To Puppies

Well it looks like Bianca is going to play the same up and down game Arabella did with her temperature. I took her temperature again at 12:30 pm and it's back up to 99.6. That's ok it's better the puppies stay in a little longer. Sat or Sun would be the perfect time frame for the puppies to be born. We want them to stay in as long as possible, but not go over her due date.

So keep watching the blog. I will take her temperature again at bedtime and will post the results.

Count Down To Puppies

This morning Bianca's temperature has dropped to 98.9, so we are getting closer to Delivery Day. Maybe she won't make it until the weekend. If she continues to drop she will probably go in labor within the next couple of days. But if she does what Arababella did her temp may rise back up to the 99's again.

BIANCA'S X-RAY RESULTS

We just got back from the vets and it appears that Bianca may have absorbed a couple of the puppies. We saw 7 puppies in the sonogram but in the x-ray we could only see defintely 4 and maybe a 5th puppy. Unfortunately her intestines were full and made it very hard to see. So I guess the only thing left to do is wait and see what happens.

I've started taking her temperature and nothing has changed. I'll keep you all posted. I have a feeling she is going to have them sometime over the weekend.

BIANCA UPDATE

It's been a week since Bianca's sonogram and she is doing great. Her morning sickness is over and she is back to eating normally. I can't believe how big she has gotten in a week. I have a feeling that she is going to have a lot more than 7 puppies. Either that or they are going to be huge. LOL

She still loves to go out in the yard and run around and play with Nico and Argus. And we can't forget the belly rubs. Oh how she loves her belly rubbed.

I'll be taking her in for an xray sometime the week of Nov 17th. I'm going to try and get her in on Nov 19th. Her due date is Nov 20th - Nov 25th. I'll let everyone know exactly when I take her and how many puppies we count in the xray.

Once she starts having puppies I will post after each puppy just like I did with Arabella. I'll let you know what time the puppy was born. How much it weighs and if it's a girl or a boy. I wont' be able to tell if they are a smooth or a plush coat until they are around 4wks. In the beginning all the puppies look like smooth coats even the plush coat puppies.

UPDATE ON BIANCA

Bianca is beginning to increase the amount of food she is eating a day, so I guess her morning sickness is subsiding. She is getting bigger and bigger despited the fact she has lost 3lbs due to the decrease in her food consumption. I'm sure that now that she is starting to eat more she will start gaining weight. She still loves to run in the yard with the other dogs and roll over on her back for tummy rubs.

It will be interesting how close she comes to Thanksgiving before she delivers her puppies. This is really going to be an exciting Thanksgiving this year with lots of new little fur babies the be Thankful for.

BIANCA IS PREGNANT

I just got back from the vets and Bianca is expecting at least 7 puppies. They were able to see 7 puppies on the sonogram. They only saw 4 puppies with Arabella and she ended up with 12. I will be taking Bianca back the week she is due to have an xray done to determine exactly how many puppies she is actually going to have. Bianca should be having puppies sometime the third week in Nov.

This litter has been much antisipated. If you think you may be interested in one of these puppies don't wait too long to contact me. Four puppies are already spoken for. We are expecting a combination of both smooth (short hair) and plush (long hair puppies) in this litter. Bianca is a plush coat and Luke is a smooth coat. We will probably have mostly sables but maybe some duals and even the possiblity of a total black puppy. We expect the puppies to be big boned and tall with nice big heads.

We at Abba's Shilohs and Catoctin Shilohs are very excited about this breeding. Keep watching for updates on Bianca and her pregnancy.

TOMORRWO IS THE BIG DAY

Tomorrow 11/27/08 Bianca is going to get her sonogram at 9am. I will post the results as soon as we get back. Keep your fingers crossed.

She still doesn't want to eat much but her belly is getting rounder, so I'm pretty sure we are going to get good news. I won't know exactly how many puppies she is carring. I wont know that until we get about a week from when she is due. At that time we will have an exray done and will know for sure how many puppies she has.

When I had a sonogram done on Arabella it said she had 4 puppies, but when we did the exray we counted 12.

BIANCA/LUKE BREEDING

It's been two weeks since the first tie. Bianca isn't showing any signs of morning sickness, but is starting to pick at her food, which isn't normal for Bianca. Not only is she picking at her food but has also reduced the amount she normally eats. This is a very good sign that Bianca is pregnant. I will be taking her into the vets after the 24th for a sonogram and we will know for certain if she's pregnant. So keep reading the blog for updates.

BIANCA/LUKE BREEDING

It's official, the Bianca/Luke breeding has taken place. Last week Bianca and Luke were successfully breed three times. If all goes well we will be having puppies just before Thanksgiving and they will be ready to go to their new homes between the thrid and fouth week in January.

If you think you may be interested in this litter please give me a call at 540-955-4180 and I can tell you more about the parents and what we are expecting in the puppies. There will be both smooth (short) and plush coated (long ) puppies in this litter. All are expected to be large boned and tall with med/soft and possible some medium temperaments in the litter. I'm actually expecting the temperaments to be very similiar to the Arabella/Elvis litter, but expect that the puppies may be even bigger in size than what the Arabella/Elvis litter was and they were huge!

I will take Bianca to the vets around the third week in Oct for a sonogram to confirm the pregnancy and an xray will be done closer to her do date to determine how many puppies she is going to have.

She and Luke were supposed to be bred last Fall but she didn't come in heat, so there are a lot of people waiting for this much antisipated breeding. I will be posting updates on this litter just like I did with Arabella, so keep watching for new post.

GOLIOTH UPDATE

Golioth is still available. He is turning into quite the young man. His slight under bite is almost normal now and the vet is sure that once he gets his adult teeth he will have a normal bite. Golioth is being changed from a pet quality to a breed upgradable. If he passes all his health testing and his bite even's out when his adult teeth comes in he will be able to be breed and shown.

At his last vet check at 2 1/2 months he got his second set of shots, was micro chipped and weighs 26lbs 6oz. He is getting very tall and very big. He still loves when I sing Lulla Bye and Goodnight to him when I put him to sleep. He is crate trained now and eats his meals and sleeps in his crate.

TWO PUPPIES STILL NEED HOMES

Two people were not able to take their puppies at this time, so I still have Light Green boy aka Golioth and Orange boy aka Apollo to find homes for. Golioth is a Black/Gray dual plush coat with a med/soft temperament and Orange boy is a Light Brown sable plush coat with a medium temperament. Both puppies are extremely loving, friendly and very confident. Golioth now weighs 19lbs and Apollo is almost 20lbs. They will be 9 wks on Tues Sept 2.

UPDATE ON PUPPIES

Wow it's been a very hectic two weeks. The litter evaluation was done on the 21sth of Aug. This was truly a very exceptional litter. Out of 12 puppies 3 were considered show quality, 6 were breed/show upgradable and 3 were pet qualtiy. All but two puppies are med/soft temperament., the other two were medium.

The tester was very impressed with this litter . All the puppies are very loving, intellegent, confident and fearless. These puppies have turned out to be the most rounded puppies I have ever seen. Not just one puppy but all 12.

All the girls are gone to their new homes and red boy, green boy, dark blue boy are also in their new homes. Black boy will be flying to CA to meet his new family on Sat. And of course Beige boy aka Argus will stay here and be part of Abba's Shilohs.

I'll be posting pictures of the puppies and their new families in the near future. And will also post updates on the puppies.

WEEKEND AT THE SPA

This weekend the puppies have been treated to a weekend of beauty treatments. They got pedicures, shampoo, conditioner and blow dryed along with a spritz of baby powder scented cologne to match their shampoo and conditioner at Abba's Spa. LOL Half the puppies are nice a squeeky clean for their departure to their new homes next weekend and the other half will be done this week.

It's going to be a busy week at Abba's. Getting puppies nice and fluffy and smelling baby fresh, trips to the vets for health checkup and vacinations and of course on Thurs we will be doing their litter evaluations.

The puppies are really getting big. I can't believe how big they are being 12 of them. They will be 8 wks on Tues so I'm holding off weighing them to see how much they weigh then. It looks like they are gaining daily. Some are bigger than other, but over all I'm very pleased with thier size.

GRANDMA SIEGI COMES TO VISIT

Siegi Elvis's owner came this morning to visit the puppies and play. I think if I hadn't planned on keeping Argus she would have hidden him under her shirt and taken him home with her. She says he's the spitting image of Elvis. She is so impressed with all these puppies. It i s so nice when everyone, especially other breeders are impressed with your puppies. I have had more compliments on this litter from other breeders than any other litter I've produces and some of the other litters were stunning. I think I have to agree with everyone, that this litter is really exceptional

We spent the morning taking pictures of the puppies. We tried to get some good head shots and conformation shots. Hopefully we were successful. Siegi will forward the shots to Jacki who does my website. Hopefully they will be up to view by the end of the weekend.

I can't believe that most of the puppies will be going to their new homes next weekend. Some will stay an extra week until their owners get back from vacation and a couple still need homes. It's going to be so strange not having 12 puppies fighting for my attention and love. I'm going to miss all the puppy love, but at least I will have Argus to cuddle with.

SEVEN WEEKS OLD TODAY

Wow I can't believe my precious dozen are 7wks old today. Time flys! They are getting so big and fluffy. They all have such sweet temperaments. They love to play with all the toys I have given them, Rough house with one another, explore new surroundings and most of all be picked up and loved by me.

When I bring them in for bed time I pick them up, hug them and give them a good night kiss. Then they get a short lullyby sung to them. I tell them all it's time to go nite nite and say shsssssss shssssss and they all settle down and go to sleep. It's really too cute. I wish I had a video camera to tape it.

I still have one male and three females available. Their litter evaluation will be on Thur Aug 21st, so after that the puppies will be ready to go to their new homes. If you are interested in one of these puppies, don't wait too long.

FIRST TIME IN THE YARD

This weekend all 12 puppies went in the yard to play. What a scene they caused. Everyone that drove by had to stop and watch the puppies. They were just too funny. At first they didn't know what to do. "What's that funny feeling under our feet" LOL but after a few minutes they were off and running, jumping and tackling each other. We stayed out for about 45 min letting them play and trying to take pictures. The pictures will probably be up on my website within the next few days, so keep checking for PUPPIES AT PLAY.

More ears are coming up. It will be interesting to see how many will have their ears up at 8 wks. Their time here is running out and I'm starting to already have sad feelings about them going, but I know that their new families will give them lots of love and will send me lots of pictures.

Hopefully I will get 7wk pictures taken and posted by the end of the week. It's really getting hard to get good shots of them. They just don't want to sit still long enough to get the shot. I'll keep trying and will post toward the end of the week.

AUG 7 EARS ARE COMING UP

The puppies are six weeks old now and really getting cute. Personality plus and temperaments to die for. Very loving affectionate litter of puppies. I don't think they realize that they are puppies and think they are my babies.

I'm going to be taking 6wk pictures today when my husband gets home from work, so they should be up by the end of the weekend, so be sure to keep checking.

The ears are starting to come up.

I would say that by the middle of next week the puppies with the ears up will probably be all up and the ones with the bases starting to come up may possibly be up by 8 wks. The bigger puppies take longer to come up, so it will be interesting to see how many puppies ears will be up at 8 wks and how long it will take for the rest of them to come up.

I am so pleased with this litter. The colors are so deep, the bones are huge, the coats are thick and very plush and the temperaments are to die for. I would really love to repeat this breeding next year.
